Crimes of the Heart is about three sisters who reunite in their old Mississippi home when one of them gets in hot water. Babe MaGrath has shot her bully of a husband, which sends her spinster sister Lenny into a dither. Meg, a failed singer and actress, buses in from L.A. to take care of both of them, but also to see her old flame Doc, whom she abandoned long ago, and who has since married someone else. During the course of the work the sisters unearth grudges, criticize each other, reminisce about their family life, and attempt to understand their mother's suicide years earlier.
